Today is my 4 year Bandiversary!!!!

Wow! Can't believe it's already been 4 years since my lap band surgery. I'm feeling great and more active than ever.....

Just got back from a 2 week, 3800 mile driving trip, taking my parents, sister and niece to visit old friends and lots of beautiful places. I know I definitely could not have done everything I did on this trip before my lap band! Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota....beautiful country and lots of memories made. Garden of the Gods, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Devil's Tower and Mt. Rushmore just to name a few stops along the way. Visited old friends and where I grew up, climbed boulders and hiked trails. Drove through new and scenic roads along the way. All without having to stop to catch my breath or think it was impossible!

What a way to celebrate my Bandiversary and looking forward to many more!!!

Thank you True Results for giving me a second chance on a full life!

Until next time!

It's already half way through February!!???

WHAT!!!! How did that happen? This year is already flying by and spring is just around the corner.

Things are going well here on the home front....busy and exciting!

I surprised my hubby with a fun Valentine date. We did a private glass blowing event and each got to pick what we made and the colors. Then we were able to help heat the glass before the artist shaped it out for us. It also came along with great hours dervs (?)!

After that we went to dinner and shared a nice Italian meal at Bucca de Bepo. And since our artwork would not be ready until the next day, what an excuse to stay overnight, right!?

We enjoyed walking through old Grapevine and sampling some of the great foods on the square, then to an afternoon movie, pick up our glass works and then home. Here are our finished pieces:

Next month is our anniversary trip to NYC! Can't wait to experience NYC and all it has to offer.

Just had an adjustment yesterday...holding on to a couple of pounds that I would like to go away. Eating a little more than I should be able to, so in for a tweak. Still have to fit into my mother of the bride dress.....and besides, I'm enjoying my new self too much to go back to what I was before!

Life is great!

Until next time,
Lisa B.

Happy 2014!!!

So I know it's not the 1st of January, but we were involved in getting our oldest daughter to the airport to fly out to California so she could get married!

Referring to my previous post, this year is going to be whirlwind and exciting. The first change in plans was my daughter's marriage. She and her fiancé had planned a March wedding unless his orders prevented it....well, they did. So now we are shooting for a fall wedding, but they both felt it wiser to get married at the courthouse in California before he shipped out as he still doesn't know how long he will be gone and they both want her to be able to have access to him and plan for any moves and all the other stuff that comes with getting married to a military man. She will still graduate college in May and then looking at moving home and finish planning her wedding until he returns.

What does that mean for my husband and myself? We won't be exhausted for our 25th wedding anniversary! We are planning a trip to New York City....I'm excited because I've never been!

Both daughters are in the home stretch of school and all the flurry that comes with it. And of course a lot of Senioritis!!!

I've been so busy making sure nothing falls through the cracks with all the school/wedding/anniversary activities, that it has kept my mind occupied and that means I'm not thinking about whether or not I'm hungry as often. There are some days that I finally stop and realize that I didn't even take time to eat lunch! For me, keeping busy is another way that I can keep myself in check with maintaining my weight loss.

Looking with excitement to the next few months!! And am SO glad I have the energy and attitude to take it all on!

Until next time,
Lisa B.

Gonna Be An Exciting School Year!

This school year started off with a bang and is going to be one exciting and exhausting year! All good of course! And I'm not even a teacher...I'm a mom involved in her daughters events.

So, here is a run down of what my next year, year and a half looks like:

1. My oldest daughter got engaged!
2. My oldest daughter will earn her Aggie Ring in November!! Whoop!!!
3. My oldest daughter informed her father and I that she will be eligible for graduation from A&M in the spring of 2014! (A whole year early!!)
4. My oldest daughter and her fiancé have planned a March wedding. (dependent upon his military orders and leave)
5. My husband and I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary 3 days....yes, 3 days after my daughter's wedding!
6. My youngest daughter turns 18 in April!
7. My oldest daughter graduates A&M in May with her bachelors! And probably with a 4.0 GPA!
8. My youngest daughter will graduate from high school in June! In the top 10% of her class!
9. Dependent upon where my oldest daughter's husband is stationed, get her moved there in June.
10. Get my youngest daughter settled in college in August. Not sure where she is going yet, but has been accepted to 3 universities already!
11. My oldest daughter will turn 21 in October of next year and ship off the Marines!
12. My husband and I will be spending the next 6 months unwinding!!! LOL!

Well, that's it in a nutshell....kinda. And just think, that doesn't even include any holiday activities, etc!

My husband laughs, because I have set up a notebook for each of the major events we will be planning for this next year....just to keep my head on straight.

But I must say..."Bring it on!" I am so ready to enjoy every moment of these milestones and cherish them. And I know that I will have the energy and stamina to keep up with the events now that I am no longer overweight; I don't think I could have said the same thing with this much confidence 3 years ago...but now, "Oh yeah!!!!"

Until next time,
Lisa B.

Enjoyed a week long vacation with my husband!

While my youngest daughter was on a mission trip and my oldest daughter is at college for the summer, my husband and I went on a vacation by ourselves! This is our first summer vacation without our girls! We spent a week in Colorado Spring, CO.

We didn't have anything planned on any time frame other than our pre-purchased tickets to the summit of Pike's Peak, so we just decided each day what we wanted to do for the day. There is so much to do there that we still didn't do everything.

I will say we did a lot of walking, some hiking and did a bunch of stairs....the only time we even used an elevator was our last night there and needed to get our luggage up to our hotel room, (we camped the rest of the time). My husband decided about 4 months ago to really start getting healthy again and so we were both able to thoroughly enjoy ourselves.

We visited Garden of the Gods to watch the sunrise and then hiked around through the park. It was beautiful at that time of day...quiet, cool and not busy. Seven Falls had a beautiful waterfall, but to get to the top, you had to walk up a few stairs....224 to be exact. And we did every one of them! Then we took the other 185 to the lookout tower and we hiked a 1/2 mile trail in between! Pike's Peak Cog Railway to the top was a beautiful view. The last time I took it, I was 7 years old! Guess what, it was the same trains. At 14,110 feet, air is light at the summit of Pike's Peak and you must be careful to not over exert yourself and pass out. We paced ourselves and enjoyed the panoramic views, took the infamous picture with the summit sign and each had one of the World Famous Summit Donuts. Neither of us got sick, light headed or dizzy. Yeah!!!!

We enjoyed many of the restaurants in and around Manitou Springs, visited many of the local shops and had fun playing arcades at the penny arcades. We took a day trip to Cripple Creek and Victor, (some old mining towns), and then over to Florissant to see the petrified redwoods. We also climbed around and through Manitou Springs Cliff Dwellings and museum.

The one thing we didn't get to do that my husband had planned for us was a sunrise hot air balloon ride.  The first morning we were scheduled, the wind didn't cooperate, the second morning we were scheduled, we got there and they were missing equipment needed to attach the basket to the balloon...BOO!

I was so glad we took this trip together and we were able to enjoy it without having to stop and catch our breath, worry about weight requirements or if we could even physically do the things we wanted. I know I felt like a kid again enjoying things I hadn't been able to for many years. Can't wait til our next adventure.....

Until next time,
Lisa B.
