My journey began in Dec. 2009. After a long talk between my husband and I, my next step was to "make the call". It took me 3 more months to get the nerve to call. I already knew and talked with many people that had either the lapband procedure or gastric bypass along with doing a lot of reading on the internet.
Each person's decision is different as to what procedure they would like to do and what Dr. they will use, so I won't get into all that. I decided to go with True Results and so the process began....
March (234 lbs. and 5'3" tall) was my first visit...it was an initial consult and overview along with insurance verification. I was given a checklist of things that would have to be done before the surgery would even be considered. It would be at least a 3 month process.
April (237 lbs.) was my second visit....I was supposed to lose weight, but on the down side I gained 3 lbs!! At this visit blood work, an EKG and PST were done along with nutritional counseling. I was also scheduled for a sleep study to check for sleep apnea because I snore.
May (233 lbs.) was my third and hopefully final visit before surgery would be scheduled. I had my sleep study done since my last visit and all was good. At this visit, my lab work results were back and all was good. I also had to do a psych evaluation that included a 300 question evaluation....I wasn't crazy! I also had lost the weight I gained, plus 1 more lb. Now I was in a holding stage until insurance gave a final approval.
June (231 lbs.) was my first visit with the surgeon and also setting the date for my surgery...July 14th!!! I had to start a pre-op diet for the 2 1/2 weeks prior to my surgery. Would you believe that I even lost 2 more pounds and that was after a vacation cruise!
Today is the beginning of my blog...weight-223 lbs. This pre-op diet is a killer....only 2 solid meals a day and 2 protein drinks along with all the water I can drink. It's been hard sticking to it through the holiday weekend, but I did it!
7 days and counting till my surgery!!!! I am so excited!
